As a Network & Cybersecurity Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead an engineering team across two disciplines—solution and Engineering Centre (NPI, ITO, OTR, and Product Care)—in all aspects of HVDC Control & Protection Network & Cybersecurity. You will support the design and implementation of Network & Cybersecurity solutions by analysing customer requirements, assessing deviations from standard solutions, and providing technical solutions that meet project delivery and Tender objectives. You will work closely with the Global Network & Cybersecurity Leader on:

  • Developing organizational talent
  • Engineering process management
  • Providing technical guidance
  • Driving consistent design practices and common global processes for projects

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the overall design of secure networks and communications architectures for the HVDC Control System from concept to commissioning, based on IEC 62443-3-3 principles.
  • Act as the primary contact for all cybersecurity and networking matters in project environments.
  • Evaluate solutions from 3rd-party suppliers that interface with the control system.
  • Support Tendering teams during bidding for cybersecurity and networking requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to Secure Deployment Guides and Security Assurance Plans for the HVDC Control System and 3rd-party interfaces.
  • Define IP address strategies and perform hardening in a substation environment.
  • Confirm that project plans contain required activities and studies to meet customer and technical requirements.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent; provide guidance to specialized staff.
  • Supervise non-exempt employees as required.
  • Manage engineering resources, workload, schedule, and milestones.
  • Lead engineering design reviews and technical leadership, identifying risks and proposing compliant solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to optimise product design and technology exploitation.
  • Build strategic partnerships aligned with departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and execute organisational policies affecting one or more groups.
  • Define project work-breakdown structure (WBS), resources, and skill levels for delivery timescales.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong background in Networking & Cybersecurity.
  • Proven experience implementing cybersecurity network solutions.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks such as IEC61850 and Ethernet-based protocols.
  • Knowledge of security/hardening and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of Layer-2 & Layer-3 protocols (IPv4, OSPF, LACP, DMZ, VPN, DMS, ADMS, DNP, Modbus).
  • Proven technical leadership in a complex system engineering development environment.
  • Preferably experience in control and protection system design.
  • Mandatory industrial background.
