Transformer Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in HVAC and preferably HVDC transformers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed transformer design including necessary calculations and drawings (preferably 400kV and above, with HVDC/offshore experience).
- Carry out or review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and specify critical parameters for quality (CTQ) and conduct Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (FMEA).
- Review specifications, identify clarifications/deviations, develop action plans, and lead them to conclusion.
- Select and specify components for ordering and manufacturing.
- Monitor key performance indicators: on‑time delivery, right‑first‑time, and budget adherence.
- Communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers, projects, tendering, manufacturing, quality, procurement).
Qualifications
- Electrical or mechanical engineer, or related experience in power transformers.
- Experience with 3D/2D design tools (Inventor or equivalent, AutoCAD).
- Experience with document management systems (Windchill or equivalent).
- Strong transformer design knowledge: transformer calculations, active part design (lead exits, insulation, windings, nesting of coils, tank design).
- Knowledge of IEC 60076, IEC 61378, rail car (Schnable car) design and offshore DNV standards preferred.
- Experience working independently on tender and project designs.
