The HV Switchgear Expert leads UK type approval, product registration and technical submissions for GE Vernova switchgear solutions with UK operators (NGET, SPEN, SSEN, ENA, and additional DNOs). The role acts as the primary technical authority for HV GIS/AIS switchgear (3–420 kV), ensures compliance with UK technical requirements, supports tenders and project execution, and enhances GE Vernova's market position in the UK.

Key Objectives

  • Accelerate and secure UK type approval and product registration in the UK market.
  • Strengthen technical trust with UK TSOs/DNOs.
  • Ensure robust technical support to tendering and execution teams.
  • Position GE Vernova as the preferred HV GIS/AIS switchgear partner in the UK.

Responsibilities and Scope of Work

UK Product Type Approval & Registration

  • Lead all UK type approval, registration, and technical submissions with:
    • NGET
    • SPEN
    • SSEN
    • ENA
    • Other DNOs
  • Prepare and coordinate technical evidence, type approval and type registration files, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain visibility on approval progress, risks, and requirements.

Technical Reference for UK HV Switchgear

  • Act as the primary technical contact for HV GIS/AIS (72.5–420 kV) performance and design.
  • Ensure alignment between GE Vernova’s products and UK-specific standards & utility requirements.
  • Support product adaptation strategies and compliance alignment.

Tendering Support

  • Ensure tender technical offers match UK-approved and type-registered designs.
  • Review customer specs, validate proposals, and support technical clarifications.
  • Provide risk assessments linked to product qualification status.

Project & Execution Support

  • Provide expert input on UK type approval status and design constraints.
  • Support resolution of technical issues during project execution.
  • Interface with engineering, quality, and UK utilities during issue resolution.

Qualifications

  • Technician/master craftsman or university degree in Electrical/Power Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in HV switchgear engineering, testing, or utility-facing roles. (MV/HV switchgear background will be considered for candidates demonstrating strong transferable technical skills.)
  • Strong knowledge of IEC 62271, IEC 60071, IEEE C37, EN/DIN, and ideally UK DNO/TSO standards.
  • Experience with UK type approval, type registration, or regulatory approvals.
  • Fluent English.
