  • Senior Regional Accountant
  • We are looking for an experienced

Senior Regional Accountant to support the Head of Regional Finance in managing the day-to-day finance operations and ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and compliance with Al Jazeera Media Network policies and local requirements.

The role will also provide oversight and guidance to Regional Accountants and Assistant Accountants and act on behalf of the Head of Regional Finance when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review vendor invoices, payments, expenses and accounting entries.
  • Perform bank, supplier, staff and inter-company reconciliations.
  • Coordinate payroll with Regional HR and external payroll providers.
  • Support monthly and year-end closing and review Trial Balance accounts.
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules and support statutory financial statements.
  • Manage VAT reconciliations and returns, working with tax consultants and local authorities.
  • Oversee fixed assets, petty cash, accruals and project/programme capitalisation.
  • Ensure accurate recording and analysis of revenue and expenditure.
  • Liaise with auditors and tax consultants and support internal and statutory audits.
  • Monitor outstanding financial and reconciliation items across regional bureaux.
  • Ensure compliance with AJMN financial policies, procedures and controls.
  • Support continuous improvement of regional finance processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant finance/accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reconciliations, closing and reporting.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of VAT, statutory reporting and audit requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
