About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive HSES Manager to join our team in Leyland.
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability (HSES) performance across the site.
You will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance, improving safety standards, embedding a positive safety culture and supporting continuous improvement across our operations.
Working closely with site leadership and operational teams, you will provide expert HSES guidance, develop effective systems and help create a safer, more sustainable workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HSES activities across the site, driving a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain HSES policies, procedures, management systems and safe working practices.
- Ensure compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Complete and support risk assessments, audits, inspections and improvement programmes.
- Manage key safety risks including COSHH, PUWER, DSEAR, manual handling and ergonomic assessments.
- Lead incident and near miss investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor HSES performance, identify trends and deliver improvement plans.
- Deliver HSES training, awareness activities and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Support environmental compliance including waste management, contractor controls and pollution prevention.
- Build strong relationships with employees, operational teams, leadership and external stakeholders.
About You
- Proven experience in a HSES Manager or similar role within manufacturing, industrial or operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised qualification) essential. NEBOSH Diploma desirable.
- Experience with HSES management systems and auditing (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001).
- Practical experience managing workplace risks including COSHH, PUWER, DSEAR and manual handling.
- Experience investigating incidents and delivering effective corrective actions.
- Strong communication, influencing and leadership skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
- Passionate about improving safety culture and driving positive change.
