Job Title: Customer Service Representative

Location: AkzoNobel – Felling, Gateshead; UK (Hybrid/Office-based)

Job Purpose

Join our Customer Service Team and play a vital role in ensuring highly professional interactions with our customers. You’ll support order processing, complaint registration, and provide the information and solutions our customers need, helping us deliver outstanding service every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the sales team with customer service-related tasks.
  • Register and process orders in SAP received via email, phone, or other channels.
  • Act as the first point of contact for customers regarding orders, quotations, general enquiries, and initial complaint resolution.
  • Arrange deliveries to agents, vessels, or direct to customers as required.
  • Ensure timely and complete order processing, coordinating with warehouse, logistics, and transport teams.
  • Foster strong relationships between customer service and the field sales force.
  • Build product and customer knowledge to offer solutions and alternatives.
  • Escalate delivery or invoice issues and higher-level complaints to the Customer Service Manager.
  • Suggest improvements to work processes.
  • Complete all customer service-related documentation and archiving.
  • Adhere to all corporate and site policies, with a focus on personal conduct, health & safety, and compliance.
  • Complete all mandatory internal training modules.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A–C) or equivalent.
  • Experience in a customer service department, customer-facing, or sales support role.
  • Good English skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook).
  • Good networking skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and proactive approach.
  • SAP knowledge (not essential).
