About akt

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity. Founded in 1989, it operates service centres in London, Manchester and Newcastle and provides support across the UK through its Digital Service. Last year, akt worked with over 1150 vulnerable young people. We exist because of a simple but powerful thought that no young person should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are. Today, young LGBTQ+ people are still at an increased risk of homelessness and are twice as likely to end up hidden homeless than their peers. akt provides support and routes to safe homes so that young people can thrive.

The Team

This pivotal role reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT). It will lead on translating akt’s strategic intent – "Home + Hope" – into action and change, working closely with colleagues across akt to make the themes of the strategy a reality. The role provides an opportunity to be part of akt at the very start of its next five-year journey, shaping the delivery team, implementation process and initial project work, and working in close collaboration with fundraising colleagues to raise the funds to deliver over time.

Job Summary

Fixed term position for two years with the possibility of becoming permanent if funding is secured. Salary: £45,000 per annum. One vacancy that can be worked from either Manchester or London.
