Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, we are looking to recruit a Junior AutoCAD Trainee Technician to join our professional and collaborative team.

The Role: As a Junior AutoCAD Trainee Technician, you will learn the technical aspects of structural and civil engineering projects, including how to prepare detailed plans, elevations, and sections. You will work closely under the supervision of senior technicians, project engineers, and external design professionals to produce and coordinate technical drawings and project documentation.

  • Learning how to read and interpret architectural and structural engineers’ mark-ups and drawings.
  • Learning how to prepare accurate and detailed AutoCAD drawings under the supervision of engineers and senior technicians.
  • Assisting with the preparation, coordination, and issue of technical project documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with engineers, architects, and other design team members.
  • Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of internal CAD systems, standards, and processes.
  • Attending site meetings with engineers and learning the process of undertaking dimensional surveys, where required.
  • Ensuring all drawings and documentation comply with company standards, procedures, and QA requirements.
  • Maintaining an awareness of relevant industry standards, software developments, and best practices.
  • Representing the business professionally during meetings, site visits, and project discussions.

About You: We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and develop their career within the structural and civil engineering field. The successful candidate will be keen to build strong technical drafting skills over the coming years and become an integral part of our team. Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum AutoCAD knowledge, training course will be provided.
  • Ability to draw/sketch freely with hands and learn the structural detailing.
  • Minimum knowledge of technical drawings and detailing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Good organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to communicate and have teamwork abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • Some knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or Tekla Structural Designer.
  • Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Civil Engineering for Technicians (Institution of Civil Engineers).
  • Construction Design and Build Technician Level 4.
