We're supporting a leading defence organisation in the search for a Senior Project Manager to join a growing and highly successful project management community.
This is an opportunity to work across the full programme lifecycle, supporting both business-winning activities and the delivery of complex engineering programmes.
You'll play a key role in shaping future opportunities, developing winning propositions and ensuring successful delivery against customer, cost, schedule and performance commitments.
Working in a highly collaborative environment, you'll engage with engineering, commercial, finance, supply chain and customer stakeholders while helping to deliver some of the UK's most advanced defence programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution and delivery of complex projects and programmes.
- Support bid, proposal and business-winning activities, helping develop compelling and achievable customer solutions.
- Manage project schedules, costs, risks and resources throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Build strong relationships with customers, partners and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate multi-functional teams to achieve programme objectives.
- Support programme governance, reporting and decision-making activities.
- Drive proactive risk and opportunity management.
- Contribute to project estimating, forecasting and resource planning.
- Ensure delivery commitments are achieved while maintaining quality, cost and schedule objectives.
- Promote continuous improvement and project management best practice.
- What We’re Looking For
- Previous Project or Programme Management experience, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, aerospace or defence environments.
- Experience operating within a matrix organisation.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing programme risk, cost and schedule performance.
- Understanding of project controls, schedule management and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience influencing and negotiating across multiple functions.
- Commercial awareness and sound business judgement.
- Ability to work effectively within complex and evolving environments.
- Bid, proposal or business-winning experience would be advantageous.
- Professional project management qualifications (APM, Prince2, PMP or equivalent) are beneficial.
