Role Overview
The Cloud Network Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, support and troubleshooting of secure cloud networking and connectivity solutions across AWS and Azure environments. The role focuses on enabling secure integrations between enterprise SaaS platforms, internal cloud services and third-party vendors through cloud-native networking and security technologies. This includes configuring and supporting private connectivity, routing, DNS, certificates, traffic management and hybrid cloud networking solutions across distributed environments.
The successful candidate will support the delivery and operation of secure, resilient and maintainable connectivity solutions used within enterprise integration platforms and cloud-hosted services. This includes working with technologies such as AWS PrivateLink, Cloudflare, VPNs, load balancing and secure API routing to support communication between internal and external systems. The role combines elements of cloud networking, connectivity engineering, infrastructure support and security-focused configuration, requiring close collaboration with Architecture, Security, Integration and Engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure and support cloud networking solutions across AWS and Azure environments.
- Configure and support secure connectivity between SaaS platforms, cloud-hosted services and third-party vendors.
- Implement and maintain private networking solutions including AWS PrivateLink, private endpoints, VPNs and hybrid cloud connectivity patterns.
- Configure and support networking services including DNS, routing, ingress and egress controls, load balancing and traffic management.
- Support secure API and integration traffic routing across cloud and vendor environments.
- Configure and support networking security services including PKI, TLS certificates, secrets management and identity provider integration.
- Support firewall, WAF and reverse proxy configuration and troubleshooting activities where required.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing and connectivity issues across cloud, hybrid and third-party environments.
- Support vendor onboarding activities, connectivity reviews and technical assurance processes.
- Work collaboratively with Architecture, Security and Engineering teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and secure-by-design principles.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams and operational support documentation.
- Support monitoring, operational support and continuous improvement activities across cloud networking and connectivity services.
Required Experience
- Experience working within Cloud Network Engineering or Cloud Connectivity Engineering roles.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP internetworking concepts within virtualised and cloud-hosted environments.
- Practical experience designing and supporting hybrid cloud networking solutions across AWS and Azure.
- Experience configuring and supporting secure connectivity between cloud platforms, SaaS applications and third-party vendors.
- Experience working with AWS and Azure networking services including VPCs, VNets, routing, private endpoints, NAT, VPNs and DNS.
- Experience configuring and supporting networking technologies including AWS PrivateLink, Cloudflare, load balancing and WAF technologies.
- Exposure to networking and security services including PKI, certificates, secrets management and identity providers.
- Demonstrable experience troubleshooting networking, routing and connectivity issues across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Experience producing technical documentation and network diagrams.
- Experience working within Agile or enterprise delivery environments.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of AWS and Azure networking concepts and services.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud networking and secure connectivity patterns.
- Understanding of DNS, routing, ingress and egress traffic management.
- Knowledge of VPN technologies and private networking solutions.

- Ability to support secure API and SaaS integration connectivity requirements.
- Understanding of WAF, reverse proxy and traffic filtering technologies.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and network diagrams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in cloud networking or infrastructure engineering.

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
