About the role

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Vehicle Durability & Loads Engineer to support the development and validation of vehicle durability requirements.

You will process road-load and simulation data, develop duty cycles and load cases, and support virtual and physical durability testing.

The role requires someone who can manage their own workload, challenge existing methods and turn complex data into practical engineering decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritise the virtual durability workload.
  • Process and analyse large RLDA and MATLAB datasets.
  • Generate static load decks and support Level 1 and Level 2 requirements cascade.
  • Develop vehicle, system and component-level duty cycles.
  • Calculate, validate and deploy load cases to engineering teams.
  • Perform fatigue calculations using damage coefficients.
  • Define and support virtual, rig and vehicle durability tests.
  • Analyse CAE simulation data and correlate results with physical testing.
  • Front-load durability data to identify potential issues earlier in development.
  • Review and improve durability methodologies, processes and procedures.
  • Maintain damage-coefficient databases and produce durability reports.
  • Required experience
  • Automotive durability, structural fatigue or vehicle-loads engineering.
  • RLDA processing and road-load data management.
  • Duty-cycle development and load-case deployment.
  • Fatigue calculations, fatigue data and damage coefficients.
  • Processing large engineering datasets using MATLAB.
  • Interpreting CAE durability and structural simulation results.
  • Developing or supporting rig and vehicle durability testing.
  • Understanding of whole-vehicle dynamics and load transfer.
  • Experience improving or challenging engineering methodologies.
  • Ideally, approximately 10 years' automotive industry experience.
