About the Role

We are seeking a RAMS Engineer to provide specialist expertise in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) across aircraft systems for both in-service and new development programmes. The role ensures compliance with airworthiness regulations and industry standards while supporting engineering teams in the development of safe, reliable and maintainable systems. This is a technical individual contributor role with no direct reports or financial responsibility. You will work closely with design engineers, project teams, customers, and internal RAMS specialists to influence system design and support certification activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver RAMS activities across allocated programmes and projects
  • Provide technical guidance on safety, reliability, maintainability and testability
  • Influence system and product design through safety and reliability recommendations
  • Produce RAMS documentation and analyses aligned with programme and certification milestones
  • Perform analyses including FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Predictions, Common Mode Analysis, Maintainability Analysis, System Safety Analysis, Fault Tolerance Analysis and MSG-3
  • Conduct risk assessments for potential safety issues
  • Support airworthiness certification through compliant safety and reliability evidence
  • Engage directly with customers on safety and reliability topics
  • Support Business Development with RAMS input for bid proposals
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers, Project Managers and RAMS specialists
  • Deliver independent work packages within agreed schedules and requirements

Required Experience

  • Experience in RAMS, Safety Engineering or Reliability Engineering within aerospace or a safety-critical industry
  • Strong experience performing system safety and reliability analyses (e.g. FMEA, FTA, reliability prediction)
  • Experience supporting airworthiness certification and regulatory compliance activities
  • Background working within multidisciplinary engineering environments
  • Experience engaging with customers or external stakeholders on technical matters

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of RAMS principles and system safety engineering
  • Ability to perform and interpret safety and reliability analyses
  • Knowledge of airworthiness standards and certification requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence engineering design decisions through technical expertise

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical work packages
  • High attention to detail in technical documentation and analysis

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or related discipline
  • Additional qualification or training in Safety or Reliability Engineering is advantageous
