Scope The Project Manager (PM1) will play a key role in Akkodis’s Aerospace & Defence division, delivering software and engineering projects across a dynamic portfolio. You’ll lead small-to-mid-sized projects and support senior PMs on larger programmes, ensuring smooth execution and client satisfaction. This client-facing role is based in or around London, Bristol, or Stevenage, with regular local travel and a minimum of three office days per week to drive strong stakeholder engagement.

Role As a Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of projects from start to finish delivering on time, within scope, and to budget. You’ll coordinate cross-functional teams, manage risks, and keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout. Confident under pressure, you’ll proactively tackle challenges, suggest improvements, and ensure delivery stays on course. This role suits someone who works well with light oversight, takes accountability seriously, and brings a practical, solutions-driven approach to every stage of the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects across their lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manage & control the project costs & financial performance, including approval of Timesheet.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings to align project goals and address concerns proactively.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Oversee project scope, risks, and changes, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Prepare and present status reports to clients and internal leadership.
  • Promote best practices in project management and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Required Experience 3 to 6 years of experience in project management, project support, or project coordination. Proven experience managing projects in aerospace, defence, in Engineering or Software environments. Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies. Client-facing experience with strong stakeholder engagement skills. Demonstrated ability to stay calm under pressure and manage negative feedback constructively.

Required Skills Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in project management tools and techniques. Ability to work independently with some oversight. Root cause analysis and continuous improvement mindset.

Required Education A recognised project management certification, such as CAPM, Prince2, or APM, is preferred. Demonstrable understanding of both Agile and Waterfall delivery frameworks.
