Scope
The PMO function sits at the core of our Transverse Operations structure, providing the governance, assurance, and consistency that underpin both Delivery and Practice Management. With a defined career framework spanning Junior PMO, PMO, Senior PMO, and PMO Manager, the team ensures capability at every level, matching expertise to client needs—ranging from foundational project support through to strategic oversight of complex programmes.
Our PMO underpins the smooth running of client engagements across work packages, managed services, and fully externalised models. By standardising processes, maintaining documentation, driving reporting, and supporting governance, the team safeguards quality, compliance, and efficiency. Acting as a trusted partner to clients and delivery leads, the PMO provides stability, transparency, and assurance across diverse public and private sector portfolios, while continuously improving practices to strengthen both immediate outcomes and long-term service maturity.
Role
As a PMO, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of projects and services with a greater level of independence and accountability than the Junior PMO role. You will work directly with project managers, senior stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure governance, reporting, and documentation are effectively managed.
You will take ownership of maintaining project controls, coordinating project activities, and supporting risk and issue management. As you deepen your knowledge of Akkodis processes and client delivery models, you will gain responsibility for supporting and coordinating the delivery of work packages, helping to ensure successful outcomes across both public and private sector engagements. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop into a more senior PMO position, with exposure to a wide range of clients, delivery frameworks, and industry sectors.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee project governance activities, ensuring compliance with standards and processes.
- Support the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, risk logs, and issue registers.
- Produce high-quality reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and client stakeholders.
- Monitor project performance against milestones, escalating risks or variances to project leads.
- Facilitate project meetings and workshops, preparing agendas, minutes, and action trackers.
- Provide support for financial tracking, resource planning, and capacity management within the PMO.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of PMO processes, templates, and best practices.
- Work with delivery teams and external partners to coordinate activities and ensure successful outcomes.
- Begin to support the management and oversight of defined work packages under guidance from Senior PMO or PMO Manager.
Required Experience
- Experience in a PMO, project coordination, or project support role.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, Waterfall).
- Exposure to governance, risk, and reporting frameworks.
- Experience working with stakeholders across technical, digital, or data-driven environments.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Trello, or equivalent).
Required Skills
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence in stakeholder interaction at various levels.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a matrix team environment.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2 Foundation, AgilePM) desirable but not essential.
