We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support maritime and subsea programmes, delivering the design, integration, and verification of electrical and electronic systems for safety-critical applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex platforms in a highly regulated environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design maritime electrical systems in line with safety, regulatory, and military standards.
  • Develop new designs and maintain or upgrade in-service electrical installations.
  • Deliver electrical elements of ISR system design, ensuring legislative compliance.
  • Design and integrate complex electrical and electronic systems using COTS and MIL-COTS solutions.
  • Define electrical, mechanical, and constructive interfaces in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Support production, procurement, testing, trials, and integration activities.
  • Produce technical documentation, including design evidence, test specifications, and proof-of-design material.
  • Support EMC compliance, safety testing, and UKCA / CE certification activities.
  • Contribute to technical estimates, bids, and proposals when required.
Required Experience
  • Strong experience in electrical design within a regulated engineering environment.
  • Experience with electronic packaging and associated cabling.
  • Designing electrical systems for platform installations such as ships or submarines.
  • Defining design requirements and developing production test specifications.
  • Designing to meet CE marking, EMC requirements, and the Low Voltage Directive.
  • Design of deployment systems.
  • Development of hardware engineering products.
  • Specification or design of electronic packaging solutions.
Required Skills
  • Understanding of engineering development lifecycles.
  • Logical, structured approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in power supply design and EMC-compliant solutions.
Required Education
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional qualification is desirable.
