The Company
My client is a large and nationally recognised financial services business who are known for being one of the UK's 'great places to work', having won multiple awards. They are headquartered in the West Midlands with the requirement to be on-site 1 day per week on average.
The Role
As an IT Applications / Systems Designer, you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design, prototype and guide the delivery of solutions. You will communicate design solutions to delivery teams and stakeholders, supporting problem solving and help to facilitate the build process. You will support both technical design processes and embed the culture of good user experience, whilst ensuring the solution remains fit for purpose, meets the business requirements and is successfully transitioned into BAU.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse IT system requirements from SMEs and Business Analysts to ensure that they are complete and provide sufficient clarity to produce fit-for-purpose low-level solution designs.
- Outline potential solution options and make recommendations on suitability of options ensuring Designers and Architects are prepared to enable evidence-based decisions.
- Create, document and maintain design collateral which meet the business objective, align with architectural blueprints, design principles and fall within company guidelines.
- Control and evaluate interaction and integration designs and enforce the integrity of the end-to-end user journey throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of design patterns; facilitate best practice by producing designs in compliance with these patterns.
- Facilitate and support the transition of the solution into BAU operation.
- Assist in resolving live technical incidents and system problems as and when required.
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and outsourced service providers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of IT activities.
About You
This role would suit someone coming from either a strong Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst or Developer background who is looking to progress their career into Solutions Design. The successful candidate will ideally possess proven experience of IT system design and / or software development and also have knowledge of various software development methodologies. Any financial services or regulated industry experience would be great but is by no means essential.
