Location: Jersey / Hybrid

Contract: September 2026 - January 2027

IR35: Outside IR35

Working Arrangement: Hybrid - regular on-site attendance in Jersey will be required.

I'm supporting a large public-sector healthcare organisation in Jersey that is strengthening its Digital Health function with additional interim integration capability. The wider technology estate is supporting a number of critical digital programmes alongside significant operational demand and a backlog of technical work. The Integration Engineers will provide hands-on capability across the healthcare systems landscape, helping deliver new interfaces, improve interoperability and resolve existing integration challenges. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to somebody comfortable working across complex, multi-system environments rather than operating purely at architecture level.

The Role:

  • Designing, developing and supporting integrations between healthcare and enterprise systems
  • Developing APIs, interfaces and messaging solutions
  • Supporting healthcare interoperability initiatives
  • Troubleshooting integration and interface issues across live environments
  • Working with middleware and integration platforms
  • Supporting integration testing, deployment and release activities
  • Working across application, infrastructure, supplier and technical teams to resolve issues
  • Producing clear technical integration documentation
  • Supporting the resilience and performance of integrations across the wider Digital Health estate

Essential Experience Required:

  • Strong commercial experience within systems integration
  • HL7 integration experience
  • FHIR and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Hands-on API and interface development
  • Good understanding of messaging technologies and integration principles
  • Experience using middleware and/or integration platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • Experience supporting integration testing and deployment
  • Ability to operate effectively within complex, multi-vendor technology environments
  • Strong technical documentation and collaborative working skills
  • Relevant technical qualifications or demonstrable equivalent experience

Working Arrangement:

The assignment is hybrid and will require regular on-site attendance in Jersey alongside the Digital Health and wider technical teams. Candidates do not necessarily need to be based on the island, but must be comfortable with the travel commitment associated with working on-site throughout the engagement. The initial contract is expected to run from September 2026 through to January 2027 and will operate outside IR35.

If you have strong hands-on integration engineering experience and are comfortable working across APIs, messaging, interfaces and complex systems, particularly within healthcare, I’d be interested in speaking with you.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Akkodis uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
