Scope
The Project Management function at Akkodis Consulting provides delivery leadership across IT, Digital, Engineering, and Aerospace & Defence. Our Project Managers oversee initiatives ranging from discrete work packages to complex, multi-stream programmes, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
As a team, we:
- Lead and support projects of varying scale and complexity, coordinating across multiple workstreams to ensure alignment and successful programme outcomes.
- Partner with Programme Managers, Business Managers, and senior stakeholders to manage schedules, resources, risks, and dependencies effectively.
- Apply structured project management practices with a focus on clear communication, proactive problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Balance delivery discipline with adaptability, fostering trusted client relationships and ensuring business objectives are met.
With a tiered structure (Junior, Project Manager and Senior), the function provides both delivery execution and programme-level coordination, enabling consistently successful outcomes across all client sectors.
Role
The Project Manager (PM1) will deliver small-to-medium IT & Digital projects while supporting senior colleagues on larger programmes across public services, government, and commercial clients.
This role is suited to someone with 1–3 years’ experience, looking to take ownership of projects while developing skills in digital transformation, IT infrastructure, applications, and secure services. The position offers hands-on delivery, exposure to complex programmes, and clear progression opportunities within Akkodis’s project management framework.
Responsibilities
- Deliver small-to-medium IT & Digital projects from initiation to closure, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and budget.
- Support senior PMs on major transformation programmes, gaining exposure to complex multi-workstream delivery.
- Build and maintain project artefacts including plans, RAID logs, and governance reports.
- Manage and control project costs and financial performance, including approval of timesheets.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to align goals, resolve concerns, and maintain engagement.
- Conduct root cause analysis of issues and recommend corrective actions to maintain delivery momentum.
- Monitor risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating where appropriate.
- Coordinate resources, schedules, and third-party suppliers to meet project objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by applying best practices and learning from delivery challenges.
Required Experience
- 1–3 years’ experience in project management or project support, ideally in IT or Digital environments.
- Experience running smaller projects independently, with exposure to supporting larger programmes.
- Background in delivering digital, IT/IS, or infrastructure projects (e.g., system migrations, service rollouts, digital workplace, or secure services).
- Familiarity with public sector or regulated industry delivery is an advantage but not essential.
Required Skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Good understanding of project management principles (Agile, PRINCE2, Waterfall, or hybrid).
- Effective communicator, able to build confidence with stakeholders and team members.
- Proactive problem-solving approach and willingness to learn from more senior PMs.
- Comfortable using digital project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
- Motivated, adaptable, and eager to develop within a structured project management career path.
Required Education
Degree (or equivalent experience) in IT, Digital, Business, or related field.
Professional certification (PRINCE2 Foundation, Agile PM Foundation, or equivalent) desirable.
