Akkodis is seeking an experienced Electronics Requirements Engineer to support a major defence programme within a highly regulated engineering environment.

This role is ideal for engineers with a strong background in requirements, systems engineering, verification and compliance. Whilst an understanding of electronics and hardware systems is important, the primary focus is ensuring requirements are captured, managed, verified and evidenced throughout the engineering lifecycle.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for translating customer and system requirements into structured, traceable engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with programme, industry and regulatory standards.

Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will support requirements capture, verification activities and compliance evidence generation, helping to deliver complex hardware solutions in accordance with customer and project expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements capture, analysis, allocation and management activities.
  • Maintain traceability from customer requirements through design, integration, verification and acceptance.
  • Support verification and validation activities, ensuring compliance evidence is generated and maintained.
  • Develop test specifications, verification strategies and acceptance criteria alongside engineering teams.
  • Produce and review requirements documentation, test documentation and compliance reports.
  • Support regulatory and standards compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders and technical teams to resolve requirements and engineering issues.
  • Assess the impact of requirement changes and support engineering change management processes.
  • Contribute to project planning, progress reporting and programme governance.
  • Promote best practice in requirements management and systems engineering.
  • Proven experience managing requirements within a structured engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of requirements, traceability, verification and validation methodologies.
  • Experience producing technical specifications, test documentation, compliance evidence and engineering reports.
  • Experience working within regulated sectors such as Defence, Aerospace, Maritime, Rail or Nuclear.
  • Ability to engage effectively with customers, stakeholders and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting the full engineering lifecycle from requirements capture through to verification.
  • Understanding of configuration management, change control and engineering governance.
  • Familiarity with DOORS or similar requirements tools.

Technical Knowledge & Preferred Experience

  • Electronics, electrical or systems engineering background with the ability to understand and challenge technical solutions.
  • Experience of hardware integration, electrical systems, communications interfaces or subsystem architectures.
  • Knowledge of EMC, environmental and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience working on defence, naval, maritime or other mission-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with UK defence standards, CE/UKCA certification or environmental qualification activities.
  • Exposure to systems engineering methodologies, design reviews and customer acceptance activities.
  • Experience using engineering toolsets such as Jira, PLM and requirements management platforms.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
