A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an EMC Engineer to join a specialist engineering team within a leading UK Defence based organisation, supporting the development of highly complex electronic systems. Working across the full product lifecycle, you'll provide technical expertise in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), helping to ensure products are designed, tested and qualified to operate reliably in demanding environments. You'll work closely with electronics, systems and project teams, supporting everything from early concept development through to qualification, testing and product delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electronics Engineer looking to develop specialist EMC expertise or an experienced EMC professional seeking exposure to challenging and technically advanced projects.
Key Responsibilities- Provide EMC guidance and technical support throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Review electronic designs and identify potential EMC risks and compliance issues.
- Develop and maintain qualification strategies, test plans and supporting documentation.
- Support verification, validation and certification activities.
- Investigate technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure products meet EMC requirements and industry standards.
- Support testing activities, including reviewing results and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, EMC or a related technical discipline.
- Good understanding of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) principles and their application to electronic systems.
- Experience working with electronic or electrical products within a design, development, testing or qualification environment.
- Ability to assess designs and identify EMC-related risks and compliance considerations.
- Experience producing technical documentation, reports, specifications or test plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Previous EMC testing, compliance or qualification experience.
- Knowledge of standards such as: DEF STAN 59-411, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160, AECTP 500.
- Experience with RF systems, analogue electronics or digital electronics design.
- Experience working within aerospace, defence, automotive or other regulated industries.
