The Role As the 5-Axis Milling Team Leader, youll provide technical leadership across the milling department, supporting machinists with setup, programming, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
Youll also take ownership of team development, training plans, and performance, working closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure production targets are achieved.
What Youll Do
- Lead and develop the milling team, owning training plans, skills matrices, mentoring, and day-to-day support.
- Improve productivity and process stability by reducing downtime and optimizing machining methods and tooling.
- Drive continuous improvement across milling processes, programming, tooling, and production methods.
- Support CNC setup, programming, and troubleshooting across 35 axis machining when required.
- Use your experience with FANUC, Heidenhain, and Mazak controls to support technical problem-solving.
- Investigate machining issues through root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure components meet required quality standards through inspection, technical drawing, and GD&T interpretation.
- Support quotations by assessing machining feasibility, capacity, tooling, and process requirements.
- Work closely with Planning, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to keep production running effectively.
- Support the Workshop Manager with team management, including absence management and 1:1s.
- Maintain a strong culture of safety, quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.

- Experience setting and operating CNC machinery, with the ability to step in and support production when needed.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or developing a machining team.

- Good understanding of CNC programming and CAM troubleshooting.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T.
- Experience using a range of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
