Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) has an opening for a Drafter/Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Operator IV to join the team and support the U.S. Coast Guard. You will have direct impact on the U.S. Coast Guard Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) in Portsmouth, VA. This position will support the C5ISC Product Lines and ESD System Engineers by developing technical drawings and graphics and help maintain standard document formatting for various C5I systems. On occasion you may have the opportunity to travel if needed. Travel is primarily within the US however could occasionally go overseas.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide CADD Services to update and/or create Technical Drawings, Graphics, and other Official Business Documentation upon Government request through the Remedy CGFIXIT Tool.
  • Maintain assigned tasks within the CGFIXIT Tool.
  • Maintain a library of final products in both printed and editable formats.
  • Incorporate red line drawing updates and corrections into existing AutoCAD formatted interconnection drawings, or develop new drawings as needed, to reflect all equipment changes, system modifications, or corrections and reflect current electronic drafting standards and formats.
  • Work with Product Line / ESD project/task sponsors/teams to ensure all information (equipment installed, system configuration, etc.) is up to date.
  • Support Product Line and ESD engineering services within the scope of CADD services, including attending meetings and providing input/direction to program/project managers in regard to assigned tasks.
  • Travel to various CONUS/OCONUS locations in support of the C5I systems, as needed, to conduct on-site evaluations of asset configuration and incorporate that information into Technical Drawings and Graphics.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (can start once Interim Secret is obtained).
  • Education and experience: Certification from a two (2) year accredited Technical School in drafting with six (6) years of drafting experience, or high school diploma and eight (8) years of drafting experience. Completion of an academic year at an accredited technical school may substitute up to one (1) year of experience.
  • Working experience and proficiency in developing, formatting, proofreading, editing/revising, producing, and publishing CADD drawings in accordance with set standards.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Proficient writing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, up to 25% if needed, usually within the US but could include other countries.
