Primary Objective:

The Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) is responsible for supporting the quality, consistency and integrity of assessment and delivery practices across apprenticeship, accredited and other regulated provision delivered within the AKG UK Group.

The role ensures that assessment, internal quality assurance and associated delivery activities are conducted in line with awarding organisation requirements, regulatory standards, internal policies and quality frameworks. The postholder supports the maintenance of high standards in teaching, learning and assessment through robust sampling, standardisation, developmental feedback and continuous improvement activity.

Working collaboratively with operational teams, assessors, tutors and quality colleagues, the IQA supports organisational readiness for external quality assurance activity, inspection and audit processes while promoting consistent, learner centred and compliant practice across all provision.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Internal Quality Assurance Activity:

    ·Carry out internal quality assurance activity across apprenticeship, accredited and regulated provision in line with awarding organisation and regulatory requirements.

    ·Conduct sampling of learner work, assessment decisions, feedback practices and assessment documentation.

    ·Ensure assessment decisions are valid, reliable, fair and consistent across delivery teams and programmes.

    ·Maintain accurate and auditable records of IQA activity, findings and actions.

    2.Standardisation and Quality Improvement:

    ·Support the planning and delivery of standardisation activities across assessors, tutors and delivery staff.

    ·Provide constructive developmental feedback to support improvement in assessment and delivery practice.

    ·Identify themes, trends and recurring issues arising from IQA activity and escalate where appropriate.

    ·Promote consistency, standardisation and good practice across all relevant provision.

    3.Compliance and Regulatory Standards:

    ·Ensure assessment and IQA practices comply with awarding organisation, regulatory and internal quality requirements.

    ·Support readiness for EQA visits, audits, inspections and external quality reviews.

    ·Monitor compliance with assessment procedures, evidence requirements and quality standards.

    ·Maintain up to date knowledge of awarding organisation requirements, regulatory changes and sector developments

    ·Support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions arising from quality assurance activity.

  2. Learner Experience and Assessment Integrity:
    • Support high quality learner experiences through effective quality assurance of assessment and feedback practices.
    • Ensure learners are assessed fairly, consistently and in line with programme and qualification requirements.
    • Promote inclusive and learner centred approaches to assessment and quality assurance activity.
  3. Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate quality assurance records, reports and sampling documentation.
  • Contribute to quality reporting, action plans and continuous improvement activity.
  • Escalate significant quality concerns, risks or non-compliance issues appropriately.
  • Support the maintenance of auditable evidence and documentation for internal and external review purposes.

Essential/Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of internal quality assurance, assessment or quality improvement activity within apprenticeships, accredited learning or regulated provision.
  • Strong understanding of assessment and internal quality assurance principles and practices.
  • Experience conducting sampling, standardisation and quality review activity.
  • Knowledge of awarding organisation and regulatory requirements relating to assessment and quality assurance.
  • Ability to provide constructive developmental feedback to delivery and assessment staff.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to high quality, learner centred and compliant practice.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting EQA visits or external quality reviews.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeships, government funded provision or employability programmes.
  • Experience operating within multi contract or multi business environments.
  • Understanding of assurance, compliance, fidelity or audit processes.
  • Knowledge of IPS, DWP, DfE or Ofsted related environments.
