Akeneo is the Product Experience (PX) company and global leader in Product Information Management (PIM), creating a world where every product interaction is an experience that guides consumers and professionals to the best purchase, anytime, anywhere. We're all about experience – from the best‑in‑class product we build to the inspiring environment we create for our employees. You'll grow in a dynamic environment where your ideas and expertise will make an impact from day one. Our flexible work model empowers you to thrive, balancing professional success with personal fulfillment. At Akeneo, you’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative team that values open communication, shared successes, and meaningful relationships.
About The Role
Akeneo’s Product Cloud is where the world’s brands and retailers turn raw product data into experiences that win in every channel they sell through. The Activation Platform is the layer that makes all of that real: how a customer gets onboarded in their first weeks, how they see and steer what’s happening across their channels, how AI‑driven and agentic experiences let them do in minutes what used to take days, and how their data flows reliably to everything connected downstream. We have a clear ambition: to make the Activation Platform the category‑leading product in its space. Not by adding features, but by reshaping how customers think the work should be done. We’re hiring a Product Manager to help us get there. You’ll work on the surfaces that every Akeneo customer touches: the onboarding experience, the customer‑facing control plane, the agentic and AI‑native experiences we’re building into the product, and the data‑orchestration layer that ties everything together. The role sits inside the Activation Product organisation, alongside (not inside) the team that owns the marketplace channel. You do not need marketplace expertise to do this job well. This is a technical PM role. You’ll spend real time with engineering on API design, system resilience, data‑model decisions, and what good agent behaviour looks like. You’ll also spend real time with customers and the teams that work with them, figuring out where the platform actually breaks down today and what the next version should look like.
What You’ll Work On
- Customer onboarding – Get every new customer from contract signed to products live and selling in their channels in days, not months. Less hand‑holding, less services lift, fewer “how do I…” tickets. This is one of the biggest levers we have on growth and retention, and it’s currently more painful than it should be.
- The customer control plane – The cross‑cutting surface customers use to see what’s happening across all their activation channels and to steer it. Think of it as the cockpit. We want it to be the thing customers actually want to log into.
- Agentic and AI‑native experiences – What does it look like when an agent quietly handles the boring 80% of activation work? Where does the human still need to be in the loop, and where does that loop get in the way? These are open product questions and you’ll help us answer them, not on a slide, in shipped product.
- Data orchestration – Ingest from a relatively well‑behaved source‑of‑truth (the customer’s PIM, ERP, suppliers) and distribute into a long tail of less‑well‑behaved external systems with different schemas, validation rules, and failure modes. You’ll shape how that flow is modelled, monitored, and recovered when it goes wrong because at our scale it will go wrong, and self‑healing matters more than retry counters.
- The APIs underneath – How customers, partners, and our own teams build on top of the platform. You’ll have opinions on what a first‑class API is, what a private implementation detail is, and what the contract with the outside world looks like.
What We Look For
- You’re comfortable in technical conversations about APIs, data models, system resilience, and failure modes. You can read a spec, sketch a flow, and have a real opinion about the design.
- You’ve shipped product in a technical surface area, platform, integration, data, developer‑facing, or AI‑native, and have had to make hard calls about what to expose, what to abstract, and what to deprecate.
- You think about onboarding and time‑to‑value as product problems, not marketing or services ones.
- You’ve done real discovery: spent time with users, found the underlying pattern, written it up in a way that drove a decision. You can hold a clear point of view and update it cleanly when the evidence moves.
Things That Would Be a Bonus (but Not Required)
- Background in data integration / iPaaS
- Hands‑on PM experience with AI / agentic products, evaluation and guardrails.
- Experience with onboarding‑as‑a‑product (e.g. activation funnels, in‑product guidance, time‑to‑value metrics).
- Familiarity with event‑driven architectures, workflow / orchestration engines or distributed‑systems.
- Background in developer platforms or PLG‑shaped products.
- B2B SaaS context, especially products sold to digital, e‑commerce, merchandising, or data teams.
How We Work
We’re a distributed Product team. Async‑first writing, focused synchronous time for decisions and discovery. We expect strong opinions held lightly, and we expect product decisions to be made with data and customer evidence rather than the loudest voice in the room. We protect time for deep work. PMs are not expected to be available on Slack outside their working hours, and we mean that. We try to be honest about trade‑offs, including with candidates. If you have questions about the role, the team, or what we’re getting wrong today, ask them in the interview – we’d rather you join with eyes open.
