16‑hour contract. Cook position caring for elderly residents at Akari Care. Responsible for preparing, plating, and serving nutritious meals, adhering to dietary preferences and cultural needs. Works closely with the kitchen and serving staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare menu options tailored to residents’ dietary and cultural preferences.
  • Cook, plate, and arrange food trolleys in an attractive presentation to stimulate appetite.
  • Coach team members, develop ideas, and support their personal development.
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene standards and maintain the kitchen.
  • Coordinate with other care staff to meet residents’ needs.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 706 (1 & 2) or equivalent (achieved or working towards).
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Head chef or Head Cook experience in a similar environment.
  • Supervisory or line management experience.
  • Caring nature and personal approach to individuals.
  • Proven ability to lead by example, motivate a team and delegate effectively.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change at short notice.
  • Warm, approachable, and engaging persona.
  • Respectful treatment of others and residents.
  • Resilient and adaptable to differing needs of colleagues and residents.
