Join our Cloud Engineering and Architecture team! Akamai's Cloud Technology Group's Compute division, formerly Linode and now Akamai's Cloud, consists of collaborative, inclusive, and creative engineering teams. We develop applications and services to empower our customers. Our mission is to accelerate innovation by making cloud computing simple, scalable, affordable, and accessible to all. We design, develop, test, and maintain products that run on our IaaS platform.

We are looking for a Senior Architect with expertise in Kubernetes and Cloud Native technologies to lead the architecture and design our Cloud Services, new Managed Services product offerings, and the platform these products run on. In this role, you will be working with other architects and engineering development teams.

As an Architect Senior, you will be responsible for:

  • Owning the system design and implementation, guiding engineering with pragmatic solutions, and unblocking technical barriers to projects
  • Building proof of concepts to help make design choices and recommend technologies
  • Working with product managers and product architects to help inform the product direction
  • Helping shape the engineering roadmap with stakeholders from product and engineering management and business stakeholders
  • Developing best practices, sharing knowledge, and mentoring

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Demonstrate experience designing and building highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production services using Kubernetes and Cloud-Native technologies
  • Have advanced knowledge of Kubernetes concepts such as Operator/Controller patterns, Cluster API, and multi-cluster
  • Have experience and solid foundational understanding of Linux, networking, containers and the technologies that revolve around them
  • Demonstrate significant experience with implementing code with Go, C++ or Python
  • Develop projects with technologies such as OpenTelemetry, CSI, CNI, CI/CD tooling, Load Balancing, Service Mesh frameworks
