Job Purpose
We are looking for a bright, curious, and motivated Reporter to join our editorial team and help cover the latest trends, technologies, and policies shaping the industries we serve. You will work across our three publications and contribute to both digital and print platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate or early-career journalist who wants to build their skills in a respected business-to-business media environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, investigate and write clear, accurate and engaging news stories, features and interviews for digital and print audiences
- Monitor daily news and identify relevant stories, fact-checking all content for accuracy and balance
- Contribute ideas and support editorial planning through trendspotting, topic research and maintaining strong sector awareness
- Maintain and update editorial websites with fresh, optimised content
- Create and schedule editorial newsletters
- Help maintain our brands’ social media channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.), promoting editorial content and engaging with the community
- Attend exhibitions, conferences and awards ceremonies in the UK and internationally, providing live reporting and follow-up coverage
- Assist with webinars and events by researching topics, identifying participants and supporting moderation or hosting where required
- Work collaboratively with editors, conference producers and marketing colleagues to deliver joined-up, impactful content
- Apply basic SEO principles (headlines, metadata) to maximise reach
- Learn to monitor website analytics and audience data to help shape future editorial focus
- Show a willingness to adopt emerging tools, including AI-assisted research or data analysis tools, to enhance reporting and tasks
- Assist with the acquisition and onboarding of judges for a variety of awards programmes across Akabo Media’s brands
Key Skills
- Degree in journalism, media, communications or related subject (or equivalent experience)
- Excellent writing, spelling, grammar and proofing skills
- Solid research and interviewing skills, with the ability to make complex ideas clear and engaging
- Highly organised and able to meet tight deadlines
- Enthusiasm for news, feature writing and multimedia storytelling
- Familiarity with social media platforms and confidence posting editorial content
- Basic knowledge of content management systems (training will be given)
- Willingness to learn about SEO, web analytics, and data journalism tools
- Confident communicating with senior business leaders
- Positive attitude, curiosity and a desire to grow your skills
- Willingness to travel and attend events, both in the UK and internationally
- Comfort with presenting or moderating, or willingness to learn
