Hours: 12 hours – 7 pm to 7 am on Fridays (waking night). Additional hours will be available – potential for additional shifts on Saturday and Sunday nights and daytime hours during the school holidays.
Salary: Daytime hours: £16.64 per hour, overnight hours: £20.80 per hour.
We are looking for an exceptional, reliable, and energetic professional with a positive outlook and a passion for working with a young person with a disability and his family. You will be supporting our client in his home within the Gloucestershire area. You will be working with a 15-year-old boy who enjoys staying busy and active and trying new activities. The role offers a friendly, fully adapted work environment, a supportive team, and generous pay rates. Additional hours are available to cover staff holidays/sickness and to provide additional support in the school holidays.
Duties
- Providing support and care through the night to ensure his comfort and positioning
- Enabling the client to make the most of his independence in all tasks
- Completing household tasks, such as cleaning, ironing and laundry
- Providing personal care
- Initiating a range of fun and stimulating activities and supporting him with these
- Finding suitable local activities and planning trips out
- Providing supportive and therapeutic activities, such as those recommended by the physiotherapist, to develop skills and ensure his comfort and correct postures
- Helping to develop his skills, such as expanding his vocabulary and developing his mobility
- Liaising with family and support team
Person Specification
Experience: We particularly welcome applications from people with experience in care, therapy or education, but a passion for supporting and caring for a young person and his disability is essential.
Skills: Able to provide a high standard of personal care; Kind and caring nature; Enthusiastic and trustworthy; Proactive and able to work on their own initiative; Exceptional communication; Highly organised and reliable.
