We are now seeking an experienced and commercially driven Branch Manager to lead our Market Deeping depot. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for both sales performance and operational excellence, ensuring the branch delivers outstanding service, strong financial results, and sustainable growth. This is a hands‑on position requiring strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to build exceptional relationships with customers, suppliers, and your team.
The Role
As Branch Manager, you will take full ownership of the branch’s performance — driving sales growth, managing operations, ensuring compliance, and leading a motivated team. You will be responsible for delivering profitability, maintaining high service standards, and ensuring the depot runs efficiently, safely, and in line with company strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership & Commercial Growth
- Drive branch sales performance and margin growth.
- Lead and support the sales team to achieve targets.
- Monitor daily sales order intake and act on opportunities.
- Ensure quotations are followed up, analysed (won/lost), and reviewed monthly.
- Review promotions performance and maximise return on investment.
- Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
- Actively identify new business opportunities and grow local market share.
- Operations & Stock Management
- Oversee all yard and depot operations.
- Ensure safe, efficient picking, packing, loading, and storage.
- Manage inventory levels and conduct accurate cycle counts.
- Maintain agreed stock profile and value.
- Oversee transport efficiency using internal systems.
- Ensure the branch environment remains clean, organised, and professional.
- Manage holidays and staffing levels to maintain branch continuity.
- Become proficient in internal systems and controls.
- Health & Safety & Compliance
- Lead branch H&S in line with company systems and risk assessments.
- Conduct daily safety checks and manage incident reporting.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Oversee vehicle compliance, driver checks, and legal load limits.
- Maintain depot infrastructure including alarms, CCTV, fire systems, and general building standards.
- Financial Management
- Agree and manage the annual branch budget with Directors.
- Monitor monthly performance against targets and implement improvement plans.
- Complete daily banking and maintain strict financial controls.
- Support accounts with prompt resolution of queries.
- Maintain accurate cash handling procedures.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead monthly branch meetings and set clear objectives.
- Monitor team performance and drive accountability.
- Review sales and operational performance monthly.
- Coach and mentor team members to achieve targets.
- Continuously evaluate branch strategy and implement improvements.
- Staff Management & HR Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop all branch team members.
- Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and manage accountability.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new team members.
- Manage absence, holidays, and workforce planning.
- Address performance issues in line with company procedures.
- Foster a positive, motivated, and high-performance culture.
- Ensure clear communication across the team through regular meetings.

- Proven experience in branch management within a builders’ merchant, roofing, or construction supply environment.
- Strong background in both sales’ leadership and operational management.
- Commercially minded with a track record of driving growth.
