Position Overview
AJT Engineering is accepting applications for our Site Services Division for the position of Apprentice Fabricator to join our team based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Job Purpose
The main purpose of this position is to train and learn to become a Fabricator by attending college to undertake a modern-day apprenticeship or structured training programme. Practical training will also be given within the AJT workshops to help develop the required skills with the outlook to progress to a full Fabricator within a 5-year period.
Main Responsibilities
- Attend college to undertake a Modern-day apprenticeship, completing all college work and logbooks in a timely manner as required.
- Learn & develop organisational and time management skills.
- Learn & develop conversational, written English, mathematics and interpersonal skills.
- Learn how to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs and basis of design.
- Learn how to measure and cut steel sections to size.
- Learn how to prep steel plates, pipes and sections for fabrication.
- Learn how to fabricate and assemble Structure and Piping fabrications.
- Learn how to install structure and piping systems as per customer requirements.
- Learn how to undertake welding processes GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and FCAW in various positions.
- Learn how to carry out welding processes to ISO, ASME and AWS standards.
- Learn how to weld structure fabrications (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminium).
- Learn how to weld pipework fabrications (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex, Cunifer and Aluminium).
- Learn how to work to the requirements of CDM regulations 2015.
- Demonstrate over the course of the training that the tasks above can be undertaken independently or as part of a team.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment and make appropriate use of PPE at all times.
- Work to HSE ACOPs, customer rules & specifications, company work instructions and route cards at all times.
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, whether on customer sites or at college.
- Carry out any other reasonable task / activities as requested by Manager or delegate.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to learn and adapt to the requirements of the role.
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
- Able to work away from home as required.
- Able to work overtime, periodic weekends and night shift (If applicable).
- Good Level of education to include English, Mathematics to NAT 5.
Knowledge & Experience
- No prior engineering experience required.
- Demonstrated interest in engineering through School or Hobbies.
- Preferred Full clean driving licence (If applicable).
Working Hours: This is a full-time role based on 38 hours per week.
Relocation Assistance: This role is not eligible for relocation.
Remote Type: There is no remote or hybrid working available for this role.
