Our client is a leading international engineering and project services company who provide bespoke solutions across a number of marine related sectors. Due to growth they require an HSE Advisor to work from their Northumberland facility.
The Role
- Provide Health, Environmental advice and support to all employees, contractors and subcontractors.
- Identify and evaluate any unsafe conditions and work practices.
- Develop & improve HSE systems & Hazard control processes, methods and programs.
- Take a leading and proactive role in HSE for any allocated project(s) and take ownership of project safety plans and objectives.
- Communicate HSE issues across the entire business unit.
- Work in compliance with company safety systems and OHSAS 18001 standard and maintain legal compliance.
- Contribute to the improvement of the company safety culture.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continual improvement programs.
- Work closely with employees, contractors and clients to ensure that safety issues are identified and mitigated to acceptable levels throughout the project duration, focusing on the following stages:
- Sales and Marketing stage to help with HSE submissions for bids.
- Procurement and new supplier selection.
- Design & Operation (FMEA, Production design reviews etc).
- Fabrication, blasting and painting of components.
- Outfitting and construction of equipment.
- Remedial, warranty and service dept works.
- Testing, commissioning and sea trials until project hand over and acceptance.
- Support Service dept and client after delivery (As required).
Further duties:
- Management and maintenance of the SMS.
- Maintaining legal compliance and OHSAS 18001.
- Delivering and developing training programs.
- Development of procedures, HSE systems safe working practices.
- Active member of safety committees, investigation and audit teams.
- Active role in completing dept. and company key objectives and targets.
- Provide operational support, and where necessary be part of the SIMOPS management team.
- Emergency planning & Procedures.
- Report & review project HSE stats and conduct trend analysis.
The Person
- A recognised HSE qualification e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or British Safety Council qualification at a level equivalent to NEBOSH General Certificate.
- 3 Years experience in a Health and Safety role.
- Training Development Qualification NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- OHSAS 18001 Internal or Lead Auditor.
- IEMA Practitioner or equivalent Qualification.
