Our client is a leading engineering and project services company who provide bespoke solutions across a number of marine and defence related areas. Due to recent projects won they now require an Electrical Design Engineer to join their busy North East office.

The Role

  • Electrical Design
  • Specification Writing
  • Specifying of parts
  • Costing of Projects
  • Technical Support to Customers
  • Inspection and Test / FAT writing
  • Working on Electrical Department Standardisation and Efficiency Initiatives
  • Undertake the electrical design of work packs or projects with minimal supervision
  • Delivery of complex engineering solutions to agreed time scales and budgets
  • Ability to estimate, forecast, plan and execute to agreed plans
  • Provide technical support and guidance for commissioning and installation activities

The Person

  • Degree or Diploma qualified
  • Recent experience of a similar role in a bespoke engineering environment
  • Experienced in designing:
    • Power distribution systems at both 230V & 440VAC
    • Machine control and instrumentation systems
    • Control Panel design
    • Motor starter or VSD design
  • Experienced in Electrical CAD packages
  • Experienced in working to ISO9001 or equivalent in a project based organization
  • Eplan Electric P8 experience
  • Previous experience within the Marine / Offshore environment
  • Working knowledge of DNV GL & Lloyds rules
  • Experience of working with Subsea Vehicles including design of High Voltage systems
  • Knowledge & experience of relevant functional safety standards (IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC13849)
  • Commissioning & Test experience (advantageous)
  • A high level of competence with IT systems and tools
