Our client is an engineering company with a strong focus on the offshore energy industry. They are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team due to an increase in projects.
The Role
- Producing technical solutions to complex engineering problems (may involve project or sales work), this can include concept design, detailed design, calculations, analysis and technical reports.
- Take ownership of the tasks assigned through to successful delivery within the specified time, budget to the specification and required quality standards.
- Take direction from Lead / Senior Engineer and Product Technical Lead where required.
- Interpret mechanical, hydraulic and control requirements to ensure that the Electrical design performs as per the client / project requirements.
- Contribute to writing of project technical documentation such as Functional Design Specification and technical specifications.
- With support from Senior / Lead Engineer ensure that an appropriate amount of analysis / calculations have been performed on the sub-system / project.
- Ensure that work pack BOM in Teamcentre structure manager is set up in accordance with best practice and is kept up to date.
- When developing the technical solution ensure that due consideration is given to construction, commissioning, test and operation & maintenance of the equipment.
- As required, contribute to the commissioning and test specifications for sub-systems and projects.
The Person
- As a minimum, educated to an Engineering Degree level (B Eng or M Eng).
- Member of recognised Engineering body (e.g. IMechE or IET) or working towards this.
- Knowledge and experience in a multi-disciplinary design environment.
- Knowledge and experience in design, manufacture and operation of some or all of the following: Trenchers, Cable/Pipe lay, LARS and bespoke onshore and Offshore equipment.
- Maintain up to date knowledge in relevant technologies (e.g. materials, electrical / control technology) and engineering design techniques (e.g. design codes, International standards etc).
- Demonstrate familiarity with appropriate design tools (AutoCAD, Eplan, Teamcenter, etc) and make use of them effectively.
