About the Role
AJ&U Recruitment are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our clients growing toolmaking team in Leicester. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating CNC machines to produce high-quality components to exact specifications. This role involves interpreting 3D models and technical drawings, setting up and programming machines, and ensuring consistent production standards in a small family business.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling, turning, or grinding machines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine parameters for each job
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as needed
- Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation
- Collaborate with engineers and quality control teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machines, ideally Hurco\'s
- Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specification
- Familiarity with G-code and CAM software (e.g., NCG)
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Enthusiastic and willingness to embrace change and innovation
- Experience working on Hurco\'s an advantage, but training can be arranged.
- Experience with Visi CAD also an advantage but not essential
