Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician to join AJ Scott Ltd, an industry-leading, family-owned sawmill.
As a progressive and growing business, we are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our Engineering team.
Key duties include
- Carrying out planned maintenance checks on mill machinery.
- Completing work in a timely manner to minimise downtime and support effective site operations.
- Accurately completing all relevant paperwork, using the CMMS system where needed
- Ensure high level of hygiene are maintained, good housekeeping and cleaning and clearing of debris/sawdust where required.
- Carrying out machine inspections as required.
- Identifying any deficiencies or defects that may affect the safe operation or use of machinery.
- Notifying the Engineering Manager and H&S department of any defective or unsafe equipment.
- Supporting and assisting the Engineering team and machine operators where required.
Relevant experience and qualifications
- City & Guilds, NVQ or SVQ Level 2 qualification in mechanical engineering or maintenance, or relevant experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to use initiative to achieve effective outcomes.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good IT skills, including the ability to use CMMS systems.
- A flexible, positive and practical outlook.
