Job Title: Part-Time Catering Assistant Location: Various properties/sites around Cambridge Salary: £12,950 per annum (£12.46 per hour) Hours: Permanent, part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week (includes weekend working; flexibility required) Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays pro rata About the Role: We are looking for a polite, friendly, and hardworking Catering Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the catering department in providing a comprehensive service to fellows, alumni, students, staff, and guests, including formal dining, cafeteria service, and high-end functions such as weddings and events. No prior experience is necessary as full training will be provided. Key Responsibilities: * Ensure a welcoming and professional presence in all catering areas * Assist in setting up rooms for catering services * Help run the cafeteria and dining hall * Provide refreshments for meetings and bar services for events * Operate tills and record meals accurately * Maintain high standards of food safety, following risk assessments, allergen labelling, and COSHH guidelines * Ensure cleanliness in all catering areas, including reporting maintenance issues * Assist with deliveries, stock rotation, and cellar maintenance to minimise wastage * Polish cutlery, glassware, and crockery * Support in maintaining the security of silverware and other valuables * Assist with stock takes and the cleaning rota General Responsibilities: * Participate in the organisation’s training and appraisal scheme * Ensure your own health and safety in the workplace * Fully comply with organisational policies, including equality and data protection * Carry out any additional tasks as required by the department Requirements: * A professional, friendly attitude and a willingness to help others * An ability to work in a team and provide excellent customer service * Flexible and willing to work weekends and public holidays as necessary If you’re looking to join a dynamic and professional team and have a passion for catering and customer service, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding part-time position
