Overview
In this role you will contribute to the development and delivery of AJ Bell’s core services powering investor platforms. You’ll work in a cross‑functional squad to architect, build and deploy APIs, web apps and data layers, including third‑party integrations, across a NodeJS/TypeScript, React, AWS stack. You will own features from idea to production in a DevOps culture, collaborating with product, UX and business teams to deliver world‑class investing solutions. This is a hands‑on, impact‑driven role in a growth‑minded engineering organization with a strong emphasis on excellence.

Responsibilities
- Develop features for web applications and APIs end‑to‑end
- Architect, build and deploy APIs, web apps, data layers and 3rd party integrations across the stack
- Collaborate with product, UX and business colleagues and other engineers
- Adopt a build‑it, run‑it, own‑it DevOps mindset to take code from idea to production
- Propose and pilot new solutions to improve customer experience and tooling
- Work in a cross‑functional Agile squad focused on continuous improvement
Key requirements
- 5+ years of commercial experience building web applications and APIs
- Proficiency with Node.js/TypeScript and React; experience with PHP or .NET Core is a plus
- Experience with RESTful APIs and GraphQL
- Strong CI/CD experience (Jenkins and/or CodePipeline)
- Familiarity with containers (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes) and cloud‑based AWS deployments
- Solid JavaScript web development background and focus on performance
- Experience with TDD and various test frameworks
- Ability to discuss and translate technical and non‑technical requirements to stakeholders
