Job Description

We’re looking for a Banking Clerk to join our Finance team in Manchester, supporting day‑to‑day banking, cash processing, and regulatory reporting.

At AJ Bell, accurate control of cash and banking activity is critical to how we operate. This role is suited to someone with hands‑on experience in cashbooks or banking operations who enjoys detailed, structured work and takes pride in accuracy and control.

What you’ll be doing

  • Monitoring corporate bank accounts and reviewing daily transactions
  • Matching and recording bank transactions in the finance system
  • Reconciling cashbooks to bank statements on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts and cash balance analysis
  • Accurate processing and reconciliation of employee expenses, and corporate and director level credit cards
  • Arranging payments in line with agreed processes such as sundry, credit cards, staff expenses, transfer offers and compensations to clients.
  • Investigating and resolving reconciliation breaks
  • Completing daily treasury and regulatory reporting
  • Responding to finance inbox queries and supporting audit requests
  • Actively contribute to month‑end routines across cash and reconciliations

What we’re looking for

  • Strong attention to detail with good reconciliation skills
  • Experience working with an ERP system (NetSuite or similar preferred)
  • Experience using an Employee Expense system (Emburse professional or equivalent preferred)
  • A high level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail
  • A methodical, organised approach to work
  • Comfortable working to deadlines in a control‑driven environment

Requirements

  • 6 GCSE’s minimum grade C including Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a banking, cashbook, or transactional finance role
