We are looking for an experienced Data Privacy Manager to join our Data Privacy team and support the Data Protection Officer in overseeing privacy and data protection across AJ Bell. This is a second line role, providing independent advice, challenge, assurance and oversight across the business. You will work closely with colleagues at all levels to help manage privacy risk, embed good data protection practices and ensure we continue to meet our regulatory obligations as the business evolves. It's a varied role that will give you exposure across AJ Bell, combining technical data protection expertise with stakeholder engagement, risk management and governance.
What you will be doing:
- Providing clear, practical data protection advice and guidance to stakeholders across the business.
- Reviewing and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new initiatives, products, systems and changes.
- Supporting the management of personal data breaches, including investigation, risk assessment, reporting and remediation.
- Reviewing and advising on data subject rights requests, helping to ensure they are handled effectively and within statutory timescales.
- Producing monthly privacy MI, identifying trends and providing meaningful insight to support effective oversight and decision-making.
- Supporting the preparation of the Annual Data Privacy Report and other governance and committee reporting.
- Providing appropriate challenge and oversight of privacy risks, controls and compliance activities.
- Supporting privacy training and awareness initiatives across the business.
- Monitoring changes in data protection legislation, regulatory guidance and industry best practice, assessing what these mean for AJ Bell.
- Contributing to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of AJ Bell's privacy framework and approach.
What we are looking for:
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR, alongside practical experience applying data protection requirements within an organisation.
- Experience working in a data protection, privacy, risk or similar compliance role.
- Experience within financial services or another regulated environment.
- Practical experience of DPIAs, personal data breaches and data subject rights requests.
- A good understanding of privacy risk management and effective privacy controls.
- The ability to interpret legislation and regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, pragmatic advice.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to appropriately challenge and influence colleagues at different levels.
- Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
- Experience producing management information, trend analysis and governance reporting.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ideally, you will hold a recognised data protection or privacy qualification such as: BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (formerly ISEB Certificate in Data Protection), CIPP/E, CIPM or an equivalent professional qualification.

Our ways of working:
We offer hybrid working, with a minimum of 50% of your working time per month spent in the office. This role can be based in London or Manchester. For new starters, there is an initial period of full-time office working to help you settle in and build relationships.
