Field Service Engineer
Role Summary
We are seeking a UK-based field service engineer, to work as part of the wider AIXTRON Customer Service team looking after customers in both the as well as in the Europe region.
This person will install, upgrade, service/maintain, troubleshoot and provide technical support for AIXTRON’s MOCVD (metal organic chemical vapour deposition) systems.
This person needs to be customer-orientated, hands-on and resourceful at problem solving, and be able to travel both within the UK (full UK driver’s licence required) and internationally.
Objectives and Responsibilities
- Install new MOCVD systems on site at the customers’ premises, ensuring effective work on-site by preparation beforehand, both in terms of factory preparation, such as parts/works-instructions, as well as customer readiness in terms of site facilities.
Provide daily updates and final installation documentation, whilst also following up with the customer.
- Inspect, maintain and upgrade existing MOCVD systems at customers’ premises.
- Provide training to customers, as well as other regional field service engineers.
- Whilst not at customers‘ premises, provide technical support and advice to customers as well as other regional field service engineers.
- Provide feedback to internal engineering teams on existing and new prototype systems, to guide future development.
- Ensuring good quality of work in your job, through work instructions, documentation and checklists
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree / HND / HNC (or equivalent) in electrical, electronic, mechatronics or mechanical engineering disciplines.
- In-depth expertise in mechanics and electrics with application knowledge and an interest in IT applications/computer science
- You enjoy mastering challenges together in a team, but you can also work independently, self-organized and structured.
- Preference for candidates with experience in vacuum, pneumatic, semiconductor process.
- Fluent in English. Being able to speak a European language (eg. German) would be an advantage.
- Capable of and interested by learning new technology in a short time.
- Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Working conditions / Environment
- Be eligible to work in the UK, with a full UK driving licence and be able to travel extensively around the UK and to countries covered by the AIXTRON Europe Customer Service team.
Also be able to travel to AIXTRON SE in Germany for training on various products.
- Whilst on travels and on-site with customers, significant flexibility will be required with the potential for after hours and weekend work where reasonably expected.
