We are looking for a high-velocity, dynamic Director of Product Marketing to build, scale and lead a world-class function that bridges the gap between our technical excellence and market-leading growth. As the Director of Product Marketing, you will be the strategic architect of our go-to-market (GTM) engine. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you will lead the charge in defining our positioning, messaging, and GTM strategy across a multi-platform product portfolio. You will be responsible for scaling a high-performing team that drives revenue through a hybrid Product-Led Growth (PLG) and Sales-Led Growth (SLG) motion, effectively engaging both developer practitioners and senior business stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and Scale PMM Function: Design, build, and scale a high-performing Product Marketing organization from the ground up. Establish clear ownership, accountability, and operational excellence, ensuring the team is a primary driver of business outcomes, not a support function.
  • Strategic GTM & Messaging: Define and evolve Aiven’s market position and top-level platform narratives. Translate complex technical capabilities into compelling, value-driven messaging that addresses deep pain points for both technical users (developers/engineers) and business evaluators.
  • Hybrid Growth Orchestration: Master the "User-to-Buyer" journey by orchestrating effective PLG and SLG motions. Create strategies that convert developers via self-service and empower sales teams with the playbooks and assets needed to win complex, high-stakes enterprise deals.
  • Commercial Impact & AI-Driven Scale: Fuel revenue growth by developing high-impact content, sales enablement tools, and demand generation assets. Leverage AI and modern marketing tooling to automate workflows, increase team precision, and ensure Aiven stays at the forefront of technical innovation.
  • Competitive & Market Intelligence: Build and operationalize a competitive intelligence function that arms Sales and Product with actionable insights. Continuously analyze market trends, buyer evolution, and ecosystem shifts (e.g., open source, hyperscalers, AI infrastructure) to inform positioning and roadmap priorities.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as a key partner to senior leadership across Product, Engineering, and Sales. Influence product roadmaps with customer and market insights, and drive alignment on complex GTM decisions and trade-offs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of product marketing experience in high-growth B2B SaaS environments, with a proven track record of building and leading PMM teams at the $50M+ ARR scale.
  • You have 5+ years leading senior PMMs and first-line managers. Proven track record of hiring high-caliber talent, building leadership depth, and scaling high-performing teams with clear accountability and succession planning.
  • Expert at navigating hybrid GTM motions (PLG + SLG). You have deep experience marketing to technical audiences without losing the senior business audience, and you understand how to bridge the gap between user adoption and enterprise-wide expansion.
  • Preferable: Experience in or strong affinity for data infrastructure or open source technologies.
  • You are "AI-native" in your approach to work and possess the technical depth necessary to communicate effectively with practitioners and architects.
  • You work at pace with a relentless sense of urgency. You are a growth-architect who prefers "done and iterating" over "perfect and stagnant," with a fail fast, learn faster mindset.
  • You view Product Marketing as a direct revenue driver. You are obsessed with data and metrics and you have the commercial acumen to translate marketing activity into business growth.
  • You have a track record of building exceptional cross-functional relationships at pace and scale, unlocking siloes and influencing business outcomes, bringing others on the journey.
