The Global Containerized Ocean Freight Analyst supports the global ocean team with performance reporting, executive-ready PowerPoint slide decks, leadership insights, and cross-functional ocean freight projects. The role translates containerized ocean data into clear recommendations that improve visibility, service, cost, profitability, and decision-making across the global network. A minimum of 5 years of ocean freight experience is required, together with a strong interest in applying AI responsibly to reporting, analysis, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly and quarterly global containerized ocean performance reporting pack, including TEU volumes, revenue and margin, buy/sell rate performance, service quality, schedule reliability, budget variance, and forecast indicators.
  • Design, maintain, and improve Power BI and Excel dashboards; reconcile inputs from CargoWise, carrier and market sources, regional teams, and finance; document KPI definitions, data lineage, and data-quality controls.
  • Prepare executive-ready PowerPoint slide decks and leadership readouts that convert complex ocean freight data into clear trends, risks, opportunities, recommendations, and actions.
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis on trade lanes, ports, carriers, equipment, capacity, blank sailings, rates, demurrage and detention, customer or vertical performance, and other ocean freight topics as requested by leadership.
  • Support global ocean projects, including business cases, network and operating-model changes, carrier scorecards, procurement and RFQ/tender analysis, standardization, process improvement, and implementation tracking.
  • Facilitate monthly and quarterly performance reviews with regional and cross-functional stakeholders; surface root causes, agree corrective actions, maintain decision and action logs, and follow through to closure.
  • Identify and implement safe, practical AI use cases for ocean reporting and analysis, such as natural-language KPI summaries, anomaly detection, data classification, scenario analysis, and presentation drafting, with human validation, privacy controls, and clear accountability for final outputs.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and special projects will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, analytics, or related field; equivalent experience considered. Relevant training in supply chain, analytics, project management, data visualization, or AI preferred.
  • Experience Qualifications: 5+ years of professional containerized ocean freight experience required. Global ocean reporting, pricing/procurement, carrier management, BI, project delivery, or process improvement preferred. Experience working across regions and time zones; ocean carrier/NVOCC/forwarder operations, procurement, pricing, tender/RFQ, reporting, data governance, and executive communications.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and data visualization; working knowledge of SQL, CargoWise, and AI productivity/automation tools preferred. Strong interest and demonstrated ability in responsible AI adoption, including generative AI, prompt design, workflow automation, anomaly detection, and AI-assisted reporting. Must understand human review, data privacy, source validation, model limitations, and the need to protect confidential commercial information.
