We are recruiting for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our team! In this role you will be leading a team of colleagues who are involved, engaged and motivated by delivering great service to customers which we are constantly striving to improve. Working efficiently in all departments on site, and in all areas such as Goods In, Home Delivery, Compliance, Hub & Pick. Tactically driving performance, improving key performance indicators using data and reports whilst ensuring health and safety and hygiene standards are exceeded.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee labour deployment within teams in your area/shift, ensuring that the throughput and productivity targets are achieved in the most efficient way possible.
- Monitor service performance to customers, proactively problem solving to avoid and reduce poor customer experience.
- Coach and mentor the operatives to ensure they are fulfilling their roles with appropriate results and in the correct manner.
- Ensure that the operatives receive the appropriate development and support to achieve within and beyond their role.
- In conjunction with the other Supervisors, to be jointly accountable for the 24-hour performance of the depot, assisting other shifts to achieve this where necessary.
- Support operatives in employing sensible, balanced, and appropriate Performance Leadership techniques.
- Ensure that all teams receive a daily brief at start of shift, and that the messages within are consistent.
- Investigate discrepancies in inventory as required to reduce complaints and claims within SLA.
- Actively support and encourage the submission, evaluation and trialling of Continuous Improvement principles and ideas within their shift.
- Visibly support their peers and operatives by ensuring that at least 80% of their time is spent on the floor of the Warehouse.
- Always demonstrate role model behaviour and treat every employee, visitor or contractor with respect, courtesy and dignity.
- Accountable for the adherence to Health and Safety procedures on their shift.
- Continually reviewing and enhancing the operating procedures to facilitate safe and efficient ways of working.
- Overall accountability on their shift for holiday and sickness absence.
- Deputise for the Shift Manager as and when required.
- Take full accountability for their own personal development, ensuring that they continually drive to improve their own performance through increased knowledge, skills, and awareness.
Key Outputs and Results
- Coach and manage teammates to drive a working culture aligning with our core purpose, our values and leading to a healthy succession plan.
- Ensure that deliveries are received and stored in the most efficient, accurate and effective manner.
- Make sure that stock is checked and booked in correctly to ensure the prompt availability to be picked.
- Assist the Storage Manager to maintain and revise the stock plan and slotting as required.
- Ensure that the replenishment is efficient, accurate and productive, with all stock 100% prepared to pick by the picking team.
- Assist the Storage Manager to organise and carry out client stock takes, and conduct follow up as required.
- Ensure that company procedures are followed by all staff.
- Encourage a proactive approach to Health & Safety in the warehouse.
- Control and develop working practices across the warehouse to increase productivity levels.
- Assist the Storage Manager to ensure that site targets are met.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience within a warehouse environment.
- Working knowledge of 2-person delivery.
- Excellent leadership, coaching and management skills of both people and process.
- Strong communication skills at all levels, with the ability to appropriately challenge.
- A confident problem solver, using initiative to resolve issues as they arise.
- Good understanding of customer deliverables and impact of failure.
- Attention to detail.
