The Role:
CRP Subsea is seeking a proactive and organised Tool Setter to join our manufacturing team in Skelmersdale. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for preparing, installing, maintaining and managing production tooling across our manufacturing cells, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
What will you do as our Tool Setter:
- Prepare, adjust and maintain precision tooling for production operations.
- Plan and coordinate tooling requirements in line with production schedules.
- Safely carry out tool changes and machine set-ups to ensure products are manufactured to specification.
- Mount, align and secure tooling into production machinery.
- Manage tooling inventory and maintain accurate records of tool locations, part numbers and tool numbers.
- Arrange the ordering, shipping and movement of tooling in line with production demand.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication and replacement of worn tooling components.
- Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with quality standards, risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
- Support the reduction of machine downtime through effective tooling preparation and changeover planning.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the department.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements, including the use of PPE and safe operation of equipment.
What we are looking for in our Tool Setter:
- Previous experience in a tooling, manufacturing, production or engineering environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to production schedules.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- A practical, hands-on approach with good manual dexterity.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve production issues.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Strong time management skills and a focus on minimising downtime.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
- Competent IT skills; experience of ERP systems would be advantageous.
- A positive attitude and commitment to delivering operational excellence.
