As a Staff Optimization Consultant, you will join an existing team of trusted payment optimization consultants for Airwallex’s global merchants.

You’ll sit at the heart of our ecosystem, collaborating with Account Managers, Product Teams, and Data Scientists to uncover hidden opportunities, master fraud mitigation, and skyrocket transaction success rates.

Key Responsibilities

• Uncover Insights: Leverage massive datasets and industry trends to identify high-impact opportunities that boost our customers’ payment performance.
• Design the Playbook: Create and continuously refine our standard methodologies for payment optimization, keeping Airwallex steps ahead of the industry.
• Merchants engagement: Confidently lead deep-dive discussions with our enterprise clients regarding their payment performance, acting as their ultimate strategic advisor.
• Empower Teams: Train our Sales and Account Management teams on payment optimization tactics, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to win.

Levers: Partner directly with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to build next-generation AI/ML-powered optimization techniques that automate smart routing, reduce costs, and maximize success rates.

• Shape the Roadmap: Synthesize client feedback and boots‑on‑the‑ground learnings to directly influence Airwallex's core product roadmaps.
• Connect the Ecosystem: Liaise with external global stakeholders, including major card issuers and networks, to optimize the payment pipeline.

Who You Are

• The Payments Expert: You bring 5+ years of experience in the payments space, with a deep understanding of e‑commerce, card‑based processing, and optimization.
• Regulations aware: You know card network rules inside out and have a strong grasp of local payment methods and regulatory environments (like PSD2/PSD3).
• Data Lover: You possess stellar analytical skills and love diving into BI tools (Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, etc.) to tell a story with data.
• Natural Communicator: You are equally comfortable writing deep‑dive technical reports and presenting high‑level strategy to C‑suite client executives.
• Thriver of Ambiguity: You are a self‑starter who gets excited by a fast‑moving, high‑growth environment and can drive results without a rigid instruction manual.
• Intellectual Curiosity: You have a genuine passion for solving complex puzzles and understanding a customer’s problems inside out.
