The Role

At Airwallex, product is at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for visionaries to come build and scale our next-generation payments infrastructure. Our team brings together commercial strategy, engineering, design, and regulatory expertise to deliver powerful, highly reliable financial products to customers around the world.

As a Product Lead, Payment Infrastructure, you will play a defining role in shaping the core engines that power how money moves across our ecosystem. You'll lead our Payments Product team, focusing on building, integrating, and optimizing the fundamental clearing and settlement platforms, ledgers, and banking integrations that interface with card networks, local payment rails, and our merchants' wallets.

In this role, you will lead key initiatives end-to-end, including:

  • Building & Scaling Core Payment Rails: Expanding our global footprint by integrating directly with new payment schemes, banking partners, and clearing systems to enable instant, low-cost money movement worldwide.
  • Optimizing Global Payment Flows: Enhancing platform capabilities to maximize authorization rates, improve settlement speed, and reduce cost per transaction.
  • Strengthening Foundational Infrastructure: Driving the evolution of our ledger and reconciliation systems to ensure high availability, liquidity management, and absolute precision for financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Designing Scalable Developer Experiences: Crafting highly reliable, elegant internal and external APIs that abstract away the complexity of global banking.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience in a high-growth environment, with a significant portion of that time dedicated to fintech, payment platforms, or core infrastructure products.
  • Deep domain expertise: Strong understanding of global payment systems, card networks, clearing and settlement processes, and double-entry ledger architecture.
  • Technical fluency: The ability to engage confidently in complex architectural discussions alongside engineering counterparts.
  • Exceptional communication skills: The ability to translate deeply technical infrastructure strategy into clear business value for cross-functional and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical rigour: A sharp eye for detail, structured problem-solving skills, and a data-driven mindset to track system performance.
  • Bias for action: Grit, persistence, and ownership to turn complex infrastructural challenges into shipped solutions quickly.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, with strong academic performance; technical or engineering coursework is a strong plus.

Preferred

  • Experience building or scaling external-facing API products.
  • Previous experience directly managing banking and payment network partnerships or navigating global regulatory compliance constraints.

This is a chance to own the core infrastructure that powers global money movement—and make an outsized impact at one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in the world.
