Attributes We Value: We hire successful builders with founder-like energy who want real impact, accelerated learning, and true ownership. You bring strong role-related expertise and sharp thinking, and you’re motivated by our mission and operating principles. You move fast with good judgment, dig deep with curiosity, and make decisions from first principles, balancing speed and rigor. You're humble and collaborative; turn zero‑to‑one ideas into real products, and you “get stuff done” end-to-end. You use AI to work smarter and solve problems faster.

What you’ll do: Reporting directly to the CFO, you will shape the future of Airwallex’s Finance. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of strategy, technology, and execution. You will define and deliver the future of Airwallex’s global Finance function. Acting as the architect of the Finance systems landscape, you will diagnose gaps today, design the target state and build the solutions that get us there.

  • Embed deeply with the global Finance teams, understanding their needs to identify the highest impact use cases
  • Define and own the end-to-end AI transformation roadmap for Finance
  • Own technical delivery from prototype to production
  • Codify working patterns into building blocks that others can use
  • Lead change management and upskilling initiatives to enable adoption of new tools
  • Track, measure and communicate the outcomes of your work, ensuring accountability

Who you are: We are looking for high-agency Builders. There are no layers of middle management or rigid ticketing queues here. You will hold complete end-to-end technical and product ownership—wearing the hat of a Product Manager to define the what and the why, and acting as a lead engineer to build the how.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software or forward deployed engineering experience
  • Strong Product Sense: You look at engineering through a commercial lens. You care about user experience, business impact, and why a product is being built, not just the code itself.
  • Comfort with Ambiguity: You enjoy working in spaces where requirements aren't fully defined yet, and you can independently map out technical specs from high-level direction.
  • Pragmatic Problem Solver: You are resourceful, self-directed, and focused on delivering outcomes, finding efficient ways to work through technical or institutional blockers.
  • Clear Communication: Ability to discuss deep technical trade-offs with core infrastructure teams and present clear, simplified product outcomes to executive stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong academic credentials from a top-tier university.
  • Experience in top-tier management consulting, systems integration, or digital transformation leadership roles
  • Hands-on experience with finance systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Netsuite) and automation/AI tools (e.g. ML-based reconciliation, workflow platforms)
  • Familiarity with data architecture, analytics, and business intelligence to support decision-making and measure impact
  • Experience building software that leverages Generative AI, LLMs, or automated agent workflows.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, multi-currency ledgering, or regulated financial systems.
  • Prior experience as a founder, founding engineer or early employee.
