Overview
In this role you will provide practical regulatory and corporate counsel to support Airwallex's growth in the Americas. You will partner with Corporate Development on fundraising and strategic transactions, and align global policies with US and regional requirements. You will advise on marketing, partnerships and go-to-market activities to enable ambitious yet compliant expansion. You will coordinate with outside counsel and leverage AI-enabled tools to improve speed, consistency and quality of legal work. This position is based in New York with hybrid in-office expectations.

Responsibilities
- Provide pragmatic advice on US and Americas regulatory requirements affecting Airwallex entities in the region
- Support Corporate Development on fundraising rounds and strategic transactions including due diligence, data rooms, approvals, investment documents and cap table changes
- Partner with business, Regulatory Legal and Regulatory Compliance on expansion into new markets across the Americas
- Work with compliance, risk and other LRC teams to align policies and governance across jurisdictions
- Draft, review and negotiate referral, marketing and sponsorship and other commercial agreements with cross-functional teams
- Advise on marketing, advertising and promotions legal issues and review customer-facing materials for compliance
- Coordinate and manage outside counsel on specialized matters across the Americas with a focus on cost-effectiveness and alignment with risk appetite
- Use technology and AI-enabled tools to increase speed, consistency and quality of legal work
Key requirements
- Juris Doctor from a reputable law school
- Active membership in at least one US State Bar in good standing
- 3+ years of experience in financial services and corporate law, preferably at a fintech or fast-growing tech firm or top-tier law firm
- Interest in financial services regulation and fintech, with focus on payments and related topics in the Americas
- Strong knowledge of US federal, state and cross-border rules affecting fintech/payments
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating corporate and commercial agreements with clear communication
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration across time zones
- Experience managing outside counsel and controlling costs; ability to consolidate advice into clear recommendations
