As an Engineering lead, you will be responsible for working on a range of exciting initiatives across our international payments platform. We strongly value your experience in building, designing and engineering payment systems (gateway, acquiring, issuing or equivalent). If you don't have them already, you will learn all the intricacies of the Visa and Mastercard payment platforms. You will work closely with the payments product team and will be given the opportunity to interact with the partners engineering teams when required.
As part of our core acquiring payment team you are building the next generation Payment Acceptance infrastructure, and Merchant needs are always top of mind. Within our payments team you will be delivering business outcomes not just product features, developing a number of REST services and integration components that provide capabilities to our React frontend via a backend microservices architecture. The role will span a range of activities including designing and building new capabilities to support our product roadmap, architectural review of new and current solutions, reduction of tech debt and enhancements to improve operational effectiveness such as MTTD and MTTR.
What You'll Bring:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on low latency, distributed systems
- At least one year experience in managing teams
- Strong computer science fundamentals. While we do not mind what language you have most recently been using we are using Java or Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot
- Operational tooling such as New Relic, StatsD, Elk, Datadog, Prometheus
- Experience in building a payment gateway, acquiring platform or issuing platform
- Experience integrating Local Payment Methods (iDeal, Klarna, Trustly or equivalent) or Cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) is a strong bonus
