The Royal International Air Tattoo has been running for over 50 years and is staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust. We are looking to appoint a Project Manager on a fixed-term contract to assist in the planning and delivery of RIAT 26. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Work alongside the established Ground Operations team to deliver the World’s greatest airshow
- Plan, manage and deliver projects from concept through to derig and post-event review
- Review detailed project plans, timelines and critical paths to ensure milestones are met
- Control project budgets, forecasts and cost control, ensuring value for money and approvals are in place, capturing any essential on site adjustments
- Brief and manage contractors and suppliers
- Lead coordination across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met, including RAMS, risk assessments and compliance
- Oversee site planning, layouts, build schedules and logistics
- Identify project risks and issues, implementing mitigation and contingency plans
- Act as the main point of contact for project delivery and operational decision-making ensuring key projects are built on time and handover deadlines are met
- Monitor progress on site, resolving problems quickly and effectively
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed quality standards
- Maintain clear communication and reporting to senior management
- Manage change control and late-stage amendments without compromising safety or delivery
- Conduct post-event reviews, capturing lessons learned and improvement actions
Type of contract/working hours: FTC 13/04/2026 until 14/08/2026, 36.25 hours per week. Based in Fairford, Gloucestershire. All employees are required to work the Saturday or Sunday before the Royal International Air Tattoo and the whole weekend of the event.
We offer a salary of £35,000 per annum (pro rata), along with the unique opportunity to be part of the world-famous Royal International Air Tattoo. As part of the role, you’ll also receive two complimentary tickets to RIAT, plus an exclusive staff discount of 50% on up to six additional tickets—so you can share the experience with friends or family and enjoy the event from the inside.
We are seeking a capable and enthusiastic individual with essential experience in event project management and IOSH‑level health and safety training, with the NEBOSH National Diploma considered a desirable additional qualification. The ideal candidate will be a confident and competent user of Microsoft applications, particularly MS Project, Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint. You will be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, demonstrating strong task prioritisation skills and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. Strong negotiation skills and a proactive, organised approach are essential to success in this role.
